Our commitment

Genesis 8 believes everyone, including people with disabilities, should be able to use this site with ease. It was designed and built to meet the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013, and Israeli Standard SI 5568, which is based on WCAG 2.0 Level AA. Beyond the legal requirement, the site follows the current international guidelines — WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

About the exemption — and our choice

Genesis 8 is a registered small business (osek patur). Under Regulation 35, a business with annual turnover below ₪100,000 (averaged over the last three years) is exempt from the website accessibility duty and only has to say so in its accessibility statement. We chose to make the site accessible anyway, to the highest level we know how — because a receptionist that never misses a customer should start with a website that never misses a visitor.

What has been made accessible

  • Full keyboard navigation — Tab, Enter and Esc, with a clear gold focus indicator and a “Skip to main content” link at the top of every page.
  • Semantic structure — navigation, main content and footer landmarks; ordered headings; lists, buttons and links with clear labels. The contact icons in the header (Instagram, WhatsApp, phone, email) are labelled for screen readers.
  • Contrast — text colours meet Level AA (at least 4.5:1 for body text) across the site, including the light sections.
  • Resizing — all text is live text (not images) and can be enlarged to 200% in the browser without loss of content. Click targets exceed 24×24 pixels (WCAG 2.2).
  • Images and animation — images carry text descriptions. The receptionist illustration in the demo is a decorative, silent video, hidden from screen readers and replaced by a still image when animations are turned off.
  • Opening animation — under five seconds, skippable with a click or the Enter / Esc keys, and disabled automatically when the operating system is set to “reduce motion”.
  • Demo call — state changes (“Listening”, “Speaking”, “Call ended”) and the transcript are announced to screen readers in real time.
  • No interruptions — no flashing content, no time limits on reading, no pop-ups and no forms to fill in.
  • Accessibility menu — the icon in the corner of the screen opens a menu with: three levels of larger text, high contrast, highlighted links, a readable font, text spacing, stopping all animations and videos, and a large cursor. Settings are stored on your device only.
  • Every screen — the site adapts to phones, tablets and desktops, in portrait and landscape.

What is not perfect yet

  • The voice demo needs a microphone and hearing. If you prefer text, message us on WhatsApp — our receptionist works in writing too, at the same quality.
  • The site was tested in Chrome and Edge, on desktop and in phone emulation. A full test with the NVDA screen reader is planned within the month. If you hit a problem before then, we would like to know.
  • The printed sales materials (PDF files) are not fully accessible; everything in them also appears on this site.
